Tuesday night Sister Koeven and the Beehives had a blast at our 'Spa' Night! We drank fruit infused water, had a chocolate coconut facial, soaked our feet and smoothed them with sugar scrub, and played with nail polish. We learned a lot about skin care and how to create luxurious spa treatments with ingredients we all have around the house. The girls wanted me to share these recipes so you could all try them at home!
Foot Soak
(we didn't actually do this at mutual but you can do it at home!)
3/4 cup Listerine
3/4 cup apple cider vinegar
(white vinegar will transfer the dye from the Listerine and turn your feet blue)
1 1/2 cups warm water
Soak for 10 minutes
Dead skin comes right off!
Foot Scrub
(This is what we used at mutual and it left our feet and hands feeling super smooth!!)
1 cup sugar
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp honey
add a few drops of your favorite essential oil if desired
mix all together with a fork
Makes a great exfoliate!
The natural olive oil and honey have great benefits for your skin. Honey is antibacterial and the oil helps to deeply moisturize. The sugar gently removes dead skin cells allowing your healthy skin to show through.

Dark Chocolate Coconut Facial
(Smells delicious but does not taste good! lol!)
1 Tbsp coconut oil
2 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
soften the 1 Tbsp of coconut oil in the microwave for 5-10 seconds then mix in your cocoa powder and apply to your face with a brush or fingers...we decided it was easier to use your fingers. Then let it sit for 15 minutes and wash off.
Health Benefits: Dark Chocolate Cocoa Powder has a high level of antioxidants that promote cell repair. It helps firm your skin and prevent wrinkles. It also has a high vitamin and mineral content, increases hydration, helps smooth rough spots, and prevents UV damage from the sun. Coconut Oil has antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-fungal properties. It penetrates deep into the skin providing long lasting moisture that doesn't feel greasy or cause break outs. It helps maintain clear skin, and it smells good!! You can use coconut oil straight from the bottle to like lotion to heal your skin!
Infused Water
We enjoyed a refreshing glass of fruit infused water during our Spa Night. It was made with sliced grapefruit, sliced water melon, sliced cucumber, and mint leaves. Simply mix all the ingredients in a pitcher and let it chill in the refrigerator. All the flavors will infuse into the water giving it a nice refreshing flavor.
Health Benefits: It's Water! Drinking more water is perhaps the best beauty secret there is (while we're talking about water, start drinking it NOW to prepare for the trek so you don't get dehydrated!!). Water is much healthier than soda's or fruit juices that are loader with sugar. It keeps you hydrated: dehydration causes headaches, digestive problems, obesity, and joint pain. The 'Infused' water has extra nutrients, it adds flavor so you'll drink more of it. It provides appetite control, immune defense, heart burn prevention, blood sugar regulation, and weight management! It also gives you a boost of energy which is great before or after a workout!!
Making it yourself is far better than buying the vitamin waters at the store. Why? First of all, all that vitamin water is costly. Second, it is full of unhealthy preservatives, and third they always add artificial sweeteners and sugars.
Making your own is far better and there are endless recipes online and on pinterest.
Well, There you have it!
Now you all can pamper yourselves at home with these amazing Spa treatments made from ingredients you already have at home or could purchase easily at the grocery store!
Take care of yourselves!
